Leadership Development

Cultivate Leaders People Actually Want to Follow

Transform your managers into inclusive, confident leaders. KAMacLean Consulting offers leadership development coaching rooted in neuroscience, DEIJB, and joy-based growth—helping teams thrive with empathy and agility.

Your managers may have technical expertise, but that doesn’t automatically make them effective leaders.
Today’s leaders need emotional intelligence, cultural competency, and agility to thrive in an increasingly diverse and hybrid workplace — skills rarely taught on the way up.

Does This Sound Familiar?

Leaders who:

  • Avoid difficult conversations instead of addressing them head-on.
  • Ask for innovation but punish failure.
  • Burn out trying to “figure out leadership” without support.
  • Have teams that comply — but don’t feel inspired, valued, or heard.

If so, it’s time for leadership coaching that blends joy with real-world results.

My Approach: Joyful, Research-Based, and Real

What makes my work different from traditional leadership training?

  • Grounded in neuroscience & growth mindset research. Leaders learn how behavior actually changes — and how to sustain it.
  • Informed by DEIJB expertise. Real inclusion isn’t an afterthought; it’s integrated into how leaders think, decide, and communicate.
  • Rooted in theatre and improvisation. Leaders build agility, confidence, and creativity under pressure.
  • Joy-based development. This work energizes, rather than overwhelms, leaders.

“Meeting with Kimberly felt one part therapy and one part leadership development — she amplifies your strengths while helping you grow in ways you didn’t even know you needed.”

Leadership Coaching FAQs

Q1: What makes your leadership coaching different?
My approach blends neuroscience, DEIJB, and performance-based learning. Leaders don’t just learn theories — they practice real-world skills that build confidence and connection. My approach is about creating systems and practices that work specifically for you, your organization’s culture, and your team. No one-size-fits-all approach, I pull from my decades of experience working with leaders around the world, including what I’ve learned from them.

Q2: Who benefits most from this coaching?
Managers, executives, and emerging leaders who want to strengthen communication, lead diverse teams effectively, and navigate change with agility. Really anyone who is ready to level up their leadership practice and build intentional systems and behaviors.

Q3: Do you offer group or team sessions?
Yes. I design group workshops and team development sessions that build shared leadership language and peer accountability across departments. What shape these take is tailored to your timeline, needs, and budget. How I approach a triage situation is different than how I build for a “we want our leaders to feel more autonomy”.

Q4: How long are typical engagements?
Engagements range from a single intensive to 3-, 6-, or 12-month programs. Every coaching plan is customized to fit your team’s needs and schedule. We will collaborate to give you the most bang for your resources – time, money, people. Keeping in mind that what can be accomplished in one 2 hour introductory workshop is very different than what is achieved over 6 months of workshops and 1:1 coaching.

Q5: Can organizations use professional development funds for this?
Absolutely. Many clients use PD budgets, leadership development funds, or grants. I can provide detailed proposals and invoices to support your funding request.

Q6: Do you offer virtual coaching?
Yes — I work with clients globally through secure online platforms, as well as in-person sessions in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am happy to combine live and virtual. For example, one client had me fly to the East Coast for a workshop in Month 1 and 6 and then we conducted 1:1 coaching sessions months 2-12. We can dream big and get creative.

Q7: How is DEIJB integrated into leadership development?
Diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging aren’t a separate module — they are woven into every aspect of leadership and my coaching. Participants learn to lead with cultural humility, empathy, and equitable decision-making. They begin to notice their own bias and that of others, along with the impact of that unintentional inequity. We build systems, practices, and reward behaviors that naturally support healthy DEIJB, and therefor, something much closer to meritocracy than most current systems.
