About

My career path might look unconventional at first glance, but there’s a clear throughline: using every experience to create positive change. I have had the fortune and fortitude to live a life in many chapters, and I’ve been able to weave them into a rich and joyful consultancy focused on social justice, living my values, and improving the world around me.

My Foundation in Education and Beyond

Drawing from my decades as a teacher in K-12 (mostly high school) and higher education, plus my M.Ed, I bring curriculum mapping, differentiated methodology, trauma-informed approaches, growth mindset, and other educational best practices to my consulting work. From my decades as a professional improviser, I incorporate on-your-feet thinking, “yes, and…” brainstorming practices, agile leadership, and seeking opportunities rather than perfection.

Working in social justice in multiple capacities has made me a practitioner of restorative justice and most things DEIB related—I walk the walk and talk the talk while continuing my lifelong learning. Having consulted across different industries for years, I’ve seen the good, bad, and ugly of organizations, which gives me both perspective and pragmatic solutions.

The Personal is Professional

I also bring my own lived experience to the world and my work. As a woman living with invisible disabilities who grew up in poverty, I understand firsthand the barriers that exist and the resilience it takes to navigate them. My journey took me around the US and eventually the globe before I graduated high school. Though I hold dual citizenship (US and UK – Scotland), I moved to the Bay Area for college and fell in love with the creative community and open-mindedness.

I’ve continued to travel when I can, often turning work trips into opportunities to explore, embrace being a fish out of familiar water, and hit all the museums, local food spots, and maybe a few tourist traps, too. These experiences keep me curious, adaptable, and connected to diverse perspectives.

What I Love Most

I especially enjoy working with historically underrepresented folks—I love getting to be your cheerleader, champion, and support. There’s nothing quite like watching someone step into their power and create the change they want to see in the world.

When I’m not working…

I’m often found spending time in my container garden with the funniest cat in the world. Indoors, I’m watching British cozy mysteries, listening to audiobooks or podcasts, or taking on a new crafty project. I have a wonderful group of friends, most of whom I’ve known for 20+ years. I love to visit my family in Maui and am a grade A++ nap taker. I’m happiest in places of calm, quiet, and natural beauty. I’m prioritizing my health these days, especially important when energy is limited and pain is constant.
